SC initiates contempt proceedings against Prashant Bhushan, Twitter India

The Supreme Court docket Tuesday initiated suo motu (on its have) contempt proceedings against activist-lawyer Prashant Bhushan for his alleged derogatory tweets versus the judiciary.&#13

The apex court has also initiated contempt proceedings from Twitter India on which Bhushan had posted some alleged derogatory comments.&#13

The issue is scheduled to be read on Wednesday by a bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra.&#13

Bhushan has been boosting issues pertaining to judiciary and recently he was quite essential and vocal of the way in which the top court docket dealt with the issues linked to migrant personnel amid the Covid-19 pandemic.&#13

He also manufactured statements relating to the therapy meted out to jailed activists like Varavara Rao and Sudha Bharadwaj who are accused in Bhima-Koregaon case.&#13

As of now, it is not clear as to which tweets of Bhushan have been prime facie construed as contemptuous by the apex court.&#13
